Ushbu tadqiqotlarda Lactobacillus va Bifidobacterium jinsiga mansub probiotik bakteriyalarning 2‑tip qandli diabetda glyukoza almashinuvi hamda ichak mikrobiotasiga ko‘rsatadigan ta’siri tahlil qilingan. Tadqiqotlar shuni ko‘rsatadiki, ushbu probiotik mikroorganizmlar ichak mikrobiotasining muvozanatini tiklash, yallig‘lanish jarayonlarini kamaytirish hamda glyukozaning metabolik nazoratini yaxshilashda muhim rol o‘ynaydi. Lactobacillus va Bifidobacterium bakteriyalari qisqa zanjirli yog‘ kislotalarini ishlab chiqarib, ichak epiteliyining barqarorligini oshiradi va insulin sezuvchanligini yaxshilaydi. Natijada ular metabolik sindrom va qandli diabet bilan bog‘liq patologik o‘zgarishlarni kamaytirishda muhim biologik omil sifatida qaralmoqda.
