Abstract

This article provides a systematic analysis of the historical evolution of Sufism studies in Western Orientalism. The period from the early philological research of the beginning of the 19th century to contemporary critical-methodological approaches is examined across four main stages. The leading representatives of each stage, their methodological approaches, and their contribution to the development of Sufi studies are analyzed. Based on the research findings, practical proposals are developed for applying the experience of Western Sufi studies to the development of national Oriental studies.
